Update on final project (fieldwork project)

Exam 2 postponed
I have decided to postpone exam 2 until Thursday, April 3. Please note that the "Late Romanticism" lecture, originally scheduled for after the exam, will be on Tuesday, April 1, and will be tested on exam 2.

Syllabus update 3/11/08
I have posted the remaining short assignments on the syllabus. In a couple of instances, the date the assignment is due has changed from previous versions.
Also, please note that the sequence of assignments for the classes dealing with Romanticism has changed slightly. In part, this change is to accommodate my absence on Tuesday, March 25, to give a lecture out of town. You will have a substitute instructor that day to show the film of the opera Aïda.

Reading assignment for Beethoven, 9th symphony
Please note that for Tuesday, March 11, we will be studying Beethoven's 9th symphony, which is not discussed in detail in the textbook. I have provided a listening guide in the "Beethoven" PowerPoint presentation, available through WebCT in the same manner as the other presentations. This presentation is available now.

Syllabus update 2/5/08
I have made a slight modification to the syllabus to indicate that we will be using a different fugue example in class than the one the book presents. The book's example (from The Art of the Fugue) is a bit difficult in some respects, and I think my alternate example will be clearer to you.
